CV Advice

Preparing Your CV

Whilst looking for a job, your CV is your most important selling tool. Prospective employers will use it to decide if they want to see you for interview. Content is important but so is presentation. Invest some time in producing a professional CV and your reward will be healthy interest from a number of companies.

Content and Presentation

Take into account that employers are busy, so limit your CV to a maximum of two sides of A4. You should aim to place all the most important information (personal details, education, current job, relevant skills) on the first page.

Key points to keep in mind when preparing your CV are:

  • Keep information factual and to the point

  • Use bullet points where possible

  • Site examples wherever possible to describe your skills and experience

  • Be honest – you’ll have to talk through your CV at the interview

  • Keep the layout clean and organised

  • Always double check for spelling errors
